few weeks ago, I wrote about
wanting to replace my wedding and engagement rings
, and, well, here’s the update to that particular dilemma:
This white-gold band is by Savicki.co.uk, and it’s basically the ring I wished I’d bought – but didn’t – back when we were getting married. At the time, as well as just not having the budget for the super-sparkly ring of my dreams, I’d somehow got this weird idea into my head that I wasn’t allowed to have a wedding band like this one, because, to my mind, wedding rings had to be much plainer. No, I’ve no idea why, really.
The ring I eventually went for did actually have three (tiny) diamonds in it, but I continued to crave something a bit more, well, blingy, really, and this one definitely fits the bill: in fact, as soon as I opened the box, and the diamonds caught the light, I knew I just wasn’t going to be able to take a photo that would do it justice. I was absolutely right about that, as it happens, but here’s another one for you, anyway:
(I really feel like I need to go out and get a proper manicure now, just so I can show it off properly. That would be a totally reasonable thing to do, right?)
It’s just SO sparkly that I can’t stop looking it, and, despite being the kind of person who normally takes all of her jewellery off the second she steps through the door, I’ve been making an exception for this, because it’s just too beautiful to consign to the jewellery box for most of the day. (And then taking it off again when Max is around, because, God knows, he’s already stolen most of my bracelets, and I really don’t want this to catch the attention of his magpie eyes…)
I ordered this ring online, and, even although I was pretty sure what my ring size was (It’s an ‘I’, just in case anyone’s particularly interested…), I figured it would probably be a good idea to double-check, so Savicki sent me out a ring sizer first, which I promptly hung on the Christmas tree:
OK, OK, I didn’t – it’s just there for the photo op. As I’d expected, this simply confirmed what I already knew about my ring size, but I’m still glad I double-checked, because the rings are all hand-made in Savicki’s jewellery workshop (Which means they can also accommodate special requests, and even totally bespoke designs), so at least this way I knew for certain that mine was going to be the perfect fit: which it most certainly was. What I didn’t really expect, however, was just how stunning it was going to be: the brand actually say themselves on their website that diamonds almost always look better in real life than they do in photos, and this is no exception: I’ll put up a quick video on my Instagram Stories later today, to give you a better idea of what it really looks like, but, in the meantime, here’s another photo-that-doesn’t-do-it-justice…
There’s just one problem, though: just as I predicted, this sparkler has instantly made my engagement ring look like a bit of a poor relation next to it. Hey, did I mention that Savicki make engagement rings, too…?
