Xiaomi is launching one after another phone in India to stay in the competition, especially in the budget segment. Today, it launched the Redmi 8 after the launch of Redmi 8A a few days back. The Redmi 8 is again a budget range phone that comes with features like HD+ notch display, Snapdragon 439 processor, 12MP+2MP rear cameras, and a 5,000mAh battery with fast charging support via Type C.
The Redmi 8 price in India starts at Rs. 7,999. At this price, it would face a competition from Realme which launched its Realme C2 back in April. Realme C2 also comes with features like HD+ notch display and dual rear cameras at a starting price of Rs. 6,999. However, it has different hardware and a slightly smaller battery.

Redmi 8 Vs Realme C2
Design and Display
These both are the budget phones and they come with a polycarbonate body. The back panel of the Redmi 8 looks glossy with a new Aura Mirror pattern. The Realme C2, on the other hand, sports a diamond-cut pattern on its back panel.
With 8.5mm thickness, Realme C2 is slimmer than Redmi 8 which is 9.5mm thick. Also, Realme C2 is lightweight than Redmi 8. Overall, design-wise they both look good. They have a dewdrop notch display at the front.
Coming to the display quality, the Redmi 8 has a 6.2-inch HD+ (1520×720 pixels) display that offers good brightness. The Realme C2, on the other hand, has a 6.1-inch HD+ notch display that also offers great brightness.

The Redmi 8 has a dual-camera set up with a 12MP primary camera with f/2.2 aperture and 1.25 um pixel size and a 2MP depth sensor. It is a new Sony IMX 363 sensor that also comes in Redmi 8A. The camera clicks good pictures just like other Xiaomi budget phones. There is an 8MP selfie camera that also offers average selfies.

Performance: Snapdragon 439 vs Helio P22
The Redmi 8 gets a Snapdragon 439 octa-core processor that is paired with up to 4GB RAM. This is a 12nm process based processor that is clocked at up to 2.0GHz with some improvements in terms of camera and power consumption.
While the Realme C2 is powered by MediaTek Helio P22 chipset. This octa-core processor is also a 12nm process based processor and is clocked at up to 2.0GHz. These chips mostly perform the same in terms of multitasking and gaming.
Software: MIUI vs ColorOS
The Redmi 8 runs on Android 9 Pie with MIUI 10 on top. The Realme C2 also runs on Android 9 Pie with ColorOS 5.1 on top. Both the custom UIs have their usual set of apps and you may find bloatware in them.
The Redmi 8 packs a big 5,000mAh battery with 18W fast charging support. While Realme C2 packs a 4,000mAh battery that doesn’t support fast charging.
Redmi 8 comes with a USB Type C port which makes it one of the first phones with this port at this price (the first being Redmi 8A).

Realme offers a new diamond-cut design, dual cameras and good internals. While in Redmi 8, you spend some extra money and you will get a better display with GG5 protection, better selfie camera, and a bigger battery with fast charging via USB Type C. Overall, if you are planning to buy a budget phone, these two are good options with their own benefits. But if you want to save some money this festive season and big battery & fast charging don’t matter that much, you can go for Realme C2.
